Maintenance
Sunbrella fabric is known for being durable and fade-resistant, yet requires regular care to remain looking brand new. Light cleaning techniques such as brushing off loose dirt and rinsing with clean water will prevent build-up of dirt, mildew and mold that can cause the fabric to fade or become damaged. Stains or spills that occur can usually be eliminated using simple spot cleaning techniques; more difficult oil-based stains may require special fabric spot remover products; mildew and mold growths should be eliminated using diluted bleach solutions – should occur.
Sunbrella fabrics should not be exposed to harsh detergents or cleaners that may deteriorate them, such as harsh detergents or cleaners, to avoid fading or damage. Instead, use a mild soapy water cleanser. Combine 1/4 cup mild soap per gallon of lukewarm water, soak fabrics in it for 15 minutes, scrub with soft bristle brush or sponge and then rinse out completely to remove all soap residue before air drying the fabrics afterwards.
Some Sunbrella fabrics feature removable cushion covers that can be machine washed on a delicate cycle in cold water with mild detergent for optimal results. Please refer to your brand’s specific cleaning instructions regarding fabric care to make sure the pieces don’t sustain damage or wear out over time.
