Since 1977, Allan Palecek has established his brand with an eye towards craftsmanship and natural materials. Palecek began as Allan explored Asian basket-weaving techniques during his travels through Asia. These discoveries inspired Allan to bring back woven baskets back home to California, giving rise to Palecek as a company and prompting his start designing and manufacturing rattan furniture which would eventually lead him into leading this woven furniture market.

The National Geographic Home Collection
National Geographic is expanding their expertise into home furnishings with a new collection of furniture, decorative accessories and accent pieces from Lane Home Furnishings and Palecek – two licensees who will help launch products that reflects cultures that National Geographic has documented over time.
This new line, launched in October, also includes eco-friendly furniture items like the Allanson globe that features National Geographic cartography in raised relief with thousands of place names and an antique-plated die-cast semi-meridian and base.
A large rattan coffee table that looks like tree branches provides the ideal place for cozying up and watching holiday films, while mid-century rattan lounge chairs, which sell for $595, will help you reconnect with nature and escape technology.
The National Geographic for West Elm Kids collection features eco-friendly materials like cotton grown under the Better Cotton Standard, FSC-certified wood and GRS-certified packaging – with all proceeds going directly to support the nonprofit National Geographic Society, which works to “protect and illuminate our world through exploration, research and education.” Additionally, decorative objects from this collection – like this framed metal palm leaf for $39 – will debut Jan 11-20 at Atlanta Gift Show, including Sphinx by Oriental Weavers and Zrike’s area rug offerings respectively.
